Essential Care

More Than a Nail Trim — A Complete Paw Care Experience

At The Paw Queen in Boulder City, NV, our Pawdicure service goes far beyond a simple nail clip. As an NCMG-certified nail specialist, LilaJean provides comprehensive paw care that addresses nail health, paw pad condition, traction, and protection — everything your dog needs for comfortable, healthy paws.

Proper nail care is one of the most important yet often overlooked aspects of pet health. Overgrown nails change how your dog walks, which can lead to joint problems, posture issues, and chronic pain. Regular professional nail trimming keeps nails at the correct length, maintains the quick, and prevents painful breakage.

Our pawdicure also addresses paw pad health, which is particularly important here in Boulder City, NV where hot pavement and dry desert conditions can take a toll on your dog's paws.

Full Pawdicure

What's Included in the Pawdicure

Every pawdicure is a comprehensive paw care experience, not just a quick nail clip.

01

NCMG Nail Specialist Precision Trim

LilaJean holds specialized NCMG certification in nail care. Every trim is precise, safe, and tailored to your pet's individual nail structure and sensitivity.

02

Filing to Desired Length

After the trim, nails are carefully filed to smooth any rough edges and achieve the exact length you prefer. This prevents snagging, scratching, and discomfort.

03

Paw Pad Cleaning

Thorough cleaning of paw pads to remove dirt, debris, and buildup between toes. This helps prevent infections and keeps paws healthy.

04

Grip Enhancement

We trim excess hair between paw pads and ensure nail length allows for proper traction on hard floors. Particularly important for senior dogs and puppies.

05

Moisturizer & Protection Wax

A soothing paw pad massage with premium moisturizer followed by a protection wax that shields against hot pavement, rough surfaces, and dryness.

06

Optional Nail Polish & Art

Common Questions

Nail Trimming & Pawdicure FAQ

How often should my dog's nails be trimmed?

Most dogs need a nail trim every 2 to 4 weeks, depending on how quickly their nails grow and how much natural wear they get from walking on hard surfaces. A good rule of thumb: if you can hear your dog's nails clicking on the floor, they are overdue for a trim. Regular trimming keeps the quick (the blood vessel inside the nail) receded, which makes future trims easier and more comfortable.

What happens if dog nails are left too long?

Overgrown nails cause a range of problems. They can change your dog's gait and posture, leading to joint pain and arthritis over time. Long nails are also more prone to breaking, cracking, or getting caught on surfaces, which can cause painful injuries. In severe cases, nails can curve and grow into the paw pad. Regular professional nail care prevents all of these issues.

My dog hates having their nails trimmed. Can you still help?

Yes. As an NCMG nail specialist, LilaJean is experienced with dogs of all temperaments, including those who are anxious or resistant to nail care. She uses gentle, patient handling techniques and works at your dog's pace. Many dogs who dislike nail trims at home or at other groomers do much better with our calm, one-on-one approach.

Is the pawdicure included with grooming packages?

Yes. A complimentary pawdicure is included with every grooming package at The Paw Queen, including the Royal Clean Up, Royal Coat Clip, Royal Tidy Up, and Royal Blow Out. If you need just nail care without a full groom, standalone pawdicure appointments are also available.
